The Department of Health and Senior Services has completed its review of all medical marijuana facility applications. The results of this review are listed below. Applications designated as “Approved” have been offered a medical marijuana facility certification and have been given five days to confirm acceptance of that certification. Notifications of approval have been sent to the email addresses of the individual who created the user account in the Medical Marijuana Registry Portal, the individual listed in the application as the Primary Contact, and at least one other individual identified in the application. Applications designated as “Denied” have not been offered a certification. Denials are issued for several reasons, including failure to meet minimum qualification, the results of an analysis for substantial common control, the results of application scoring, or application withdrawal. Notifications of application denial have been sent to the individual who created the application in the Medical Marijuana Registry Portal.

The Department will be releasing copies of all facility application scoring sheets. Scoring sheets may be found at the link below and are posted by Facility ID number. Individuals interested in the scores for a particular application should refer to the “Key” document for the relevant facility type to determine that applicant’s Facility ID. Please note the Facility ID listed is not necessarily the same Facility ID created by the applicant. The score sheets reflect the scores before any adjustments were made per 19 CSR 30-95.025(4)(C)6-8. The Department of Health and Senior Services is tasked with implementing the provisions of Article XIV. This includes but is not limited to:

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I legally possess medical marijuana now?
Yes.
While certain exceptions apply, and require certification from multiple physicians, state law says it is legal for all medical marijuana patients to possess:
- Up to a 90-day supply of dried, unprocessed marijuana or equivalent on property under their control (if cultivating plants on their property)
- Up to a 60-day supply of dried, unprocessed marijuana or equivalent (if not cultivating plants)
When will medical marijuana be available?
The Department has awarded business licenses throughout the state. With regard to build-out and inspection process as well as time needed to grow and process flowering plants, we anticipate sales to begin in April 2020, at the earliest.
How do I get medical marijuana?
Step 1: You must visit a state-licensed physician (not a nurse practitioner or physician’s assistant) to obtain a physician certification.
Step 2: Apply for an identification card from the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services.
Step 3: Once your application is approved and you receive your identification card, purchase medical marijuana from a state-licensed dispensary.
Will I be able to go to the pharmacy to fill my medical marijuana?
No, only a Missouri licensed dispensary facility.
Will the medical marijuana regulations cover CBD oil and hemp?
No, the medical marijuana program regulations will not cover CBD oil or hemp extract. Visit the Missouri Hemp Extract Registration Program for more information.
Can anyone other than a state-licensed physician provide a physician certification?
No.
What conditions qualify?
- Cancer;
- Epilepsy;
- Glaucoma;
- Intractable migraines unresponsive to other treatment;
- A chronic medical condition that causes severe, persistent pain or persistent muscle spasms, including but not limited to those associated with multiple sclerosis, seizures, Parkinson’s disease, and Tourette’s syndrome;
- Debilitating psychiatric disorders, including, but not limited to, post-traumatic stress disorder, if diagnosed by a state licensed psychiatrist;
- Human immunodeficiency virus or acquired immune deficiency syndrome;
- A chronic medical condition that is normally treated with a prescription medication that could lead to physical or psychological dependence, when a physician determines that medical use of marijuana could be effective in treating that condition and would serve as a safer alternative to the prescription medication;
- Any terminal illness; or
- In the professional judgment of a physician, any other chronic, debilitating or other medical condition, including, but not limited to, hepatitis C, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, inflammatory bowel disease, Crohn’s disease, Huntington’s disease, autism, neuropathies, sickle cell anemia, agitation of Alzheimer’s disease, cachexia and wasting syndrome.
If I have a qualifying condition, how do I apply?
After you have a physician certification, you can apply with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services.
When will I receive my identification card?
Within 30 days of application, if your application is approved.
What is a primary caregiver?
Someone who is:
- Twenty-one (21) years of age or older;
- Responsible for managing the well-being of a Qualified Patient; and
- Designated on the primary caregiver’s application for an identification card or in other written notification to the Department.
How much does an identification card cost?
The state fee for issuing. Approved payment methods are to-be-determined.
Will I be allowed to grow my own marijuana plants for medical use?
Yes, with the appropriate identification card and in an appropriately secured facility.
